    Hey Amway,
Luv the blog idea and for you to become relevant.
Luv the idea for you to become transparent.
But I get the feeling that much of your info is after the fact, and you are just trying to be up to date.
If you want to be cool then be current.
What is the deal with deciding to become Amway again in the USA.
    Good idea.
    Don’t hide it.
    Amway is a great brand.
Why don’t you tell us the news.

  2. Mike Says:

I’ve been an IBO for 2 years now, and have been convincing friends and family that our business model is NOT Amway, and that the Quixtar portal is in a whole other league.

Now you’re telling me it’s changing back to Amway? I’m not sure that’s a good move. If you would poll new IBO’s such as me, I’m sure 99% would agree. I’d like some more information on how this decision was made, especially since I have to now go back to my friends and family and tell them I was lying.

  3. Jerry Martinez Says:

It makes more sense for the name change to occur. With Amway, there is a 50 year history of free enterprise at its best. Quixtar is also a great company, but we have to move on toward brand name recognition. To be quite honest with you, I had more success in my business partnering with Amway than I did Quixtar. Don’t be discouraged, the DeVos and VanAndel families will always do what’s right even for the newest Independent Business Owner.

  4. TJ Says:

Please Make the Achieve Public or do something to Fight back. We need more positive on the internet about our team and opportunity. We have the Technology the people and the resources and the financial backing. Why Not? Too not do it is like letting some take spray paint and just write all over your garage or the front of your house saying what ever they like for all the neighbors to see with our you being able to clean it up. If they did that wouldn’t you do something? Well that is the case of Vandalism on the web about our business and it just is not true.

  5. Dean Says:

Short sited… I started in the Amway business and then built the business through the change to Quixtar and now questioning this idea to change to Amway again. The problem is there is a big difference in the business models and Quixtar by far is far better and up to date (Amway to Quixtar was more than a name change). Switching the name to Amway does no one good as Amway implies an old and outdated way of doing business. Amway would in fact alienate most of the Quixtar IBOs as we have said when discussing with prospects “Quixtar is NOT Amway and was not just a name change (which was true)”.

Alticor says Quixtar does not have the name recognition it was hoping to have by now. Who cares! This is a network of IBOs - name branding is not or never has been part of the business model. It you want name branding then get out of networking and start advertising on TV, Radio etc like everyone else. My point is Quixtar is a great business model and opportunity for individuals to develop their own business and letting the egos of the founding families get in the way is ridiculous.

The other comment from Alticor is it costs too much for labeling of products by branded Quixtar in North America vs. Amway in the rest of the world. Well that does not fly either as every country has its own ingredient requirements and labeling laws which Alticor has to adapt to anyways, so a “Distributed by Quixtar or Amway” does not make a difference financially.

In conclusion I have registered a fare size organization with the Quixtar banner and Alticor switching names will imply that the original Amway to Quixtar was only a name change (which was not true) and give credence to the skeptics they were right all along (which they were not).

This name change will surely disrupt not only the growth but reverse what I have built to this point.

  6. David Huckstep Says:

My wife & I agree with Mike’s comments on the usage of the Amway name. We were involved in Amway back in the early ’90’s and had a very negative experience. When I was initially “shown the plan” for Team, I was extremely nasty to the person showing me, and told that person Team was nothing more than “Amway with a skirt”! I wanted nothing to do with it!! About a year later, out of obligatory feelings, I attended a Team Tuesday open, and was impressed with the presentation and WAS ASSURED this was NOT Amway. My wife & I have been part of Team since April of 2006, and ALL the plans we show, we insist ARE NOT Amway “with a skirt” or anything like it. Part of what we look for in people is “are they looking?; are they teachable?”; are they ambitious?; and finally do they have integrity?” What kind of “integrity” do WE have now after being honest with everyone we show the plan to, and have to come back now and tell them the Quixtar shopping portal is going back to the name of Amway?
For your international Amway corporation, I do understand your position on the name change, but we do not want ANY PART of Amway, since we were left with such a BAD TASTE in our mouths!!

  7. Gary Says:

I am a NEW IBO and many ask me if this is Amway…
as they think of scam, bad news with that name.
I too have said this is not Amway!!
Now what do I say when they say I lied???

  8. Joey2tone Says:

Hi this response is to Mike’s comment above. This is the greatest move Alticor has made. This Business keeps getting better and better. I love the idea that the name is going back to Amway because it means something. It means the american Dream and the american way. When people ask me if this is amway i do not run from that I let them know Yes it is. The I ask them How familiar are you with this business. Then Clear up any concerns. Amway is the oldest name in Direct Selling and Many a people know the name and are familiar with the products. As a matter of fact I get very little negative response from the name Amway. When I mention Amway 9 out of 10 people say OH those products are great where can I get them.

  9. David Huckstep Says:

    August 10, 2007
Got up this morning to read an E-mail from Quixtar to IBO’s affiliated with TEAM, LEGACY, or 5K. The message was sent in the LATE hours of the evening (11:02 PM) on August 8th. From what I gather, our affiliation with Quixtar has been suspended as “the Company (Quixtar/Alticor/Amway) has terminated Woodward and Brady’s Quixtar businesses.” (Note the men referred to above do not even “rate” a salutation of Mr.) Does that mean that all members of TEAM, LEGACY, and 5K cannot use the website, as we are all affiliated with each other?
Gotta love the secrecy, deceitfulness, and underhanded way(s) Alticor/Amway/Quixtar deals with issues!
Just re-affirms my position stated above that if Quixtar changes the name to Amway, I’ll not have anything to do with it! Looks like it’s already been decided for us!

    David Huckstep

  10. jd Says:

So Alticor is going to make hundreds of thousand of IBO’s liars, ruining our credibility, and possibly open us up to lawsuits. If I have sponsored someone who has had any contact with Amway and had a bad experience and I reassured them that this is not Amway, which it’s not - I signed no paperwork with Amway - and then I say oh, we’re changing “back” to Amway, I would be opened up to a lawsuit because they could contend that they were mislead. People I go to church with, have developed relationships with, will feel lied to. Does Alticor realize that, if anybody does want to sue, all of us Quixtar IBO’s are opened up to liability? I would imagine that a lot of these IBO’s might hold Alticor legally responsible.

Furthermore, why would Alticor complain about having to label things differently - they already operate on at least a 30% markup.

Additionally, out of the 50 or so products in my house purchased through Quixtar, only 1 product says Quixtar. Every other product says distributed by Access Business Group (which is the distribution company also owned by the founders - yeah, they make money selling to Quixtar and off the IBO’S). Several even say trademark by Alticor. How can Alticor contend they have tried to make Quixtar a household name? It’s not on hardly any products - 1 out of 50. One might even argue that Alticor intentionally didn’t put Quixtar on the majority of products because they didn’t want Quixtar to become a household name. It’s been reported that the founders of Amway didn’t even want to make the name Quixtar. They only did so because several IBO’s with big organizations threatened to walk. Now they have failed to try to make the Quixtar name known by not putting it on the products. One might even wonder if it wasn’t intentional.

Forget wanting to make a household name. The household name of Amway is pretty much garbage to most people I have talked to, and that’s where our will wind up - in the trash.

  11. Rich Lichvar Says:

Go back to Amway? You can’t believe how much guff my wife and I took because of that name. We lived through the 60 Minutes, Donohue, and Revenue Canada thing. And they basically killed our business. I also agree that going back to the Amway name will open up many IBOs to lawsuits and certainly they will be accused of lying.

Jay Van Andel must be turning over in his grave and Rich DeVos has to be holding onto his new heart with this latest folderol. It is worse than Donohue, 60 Minutes, and Revenue Canada all rolled into one. The IBOAI represents more organizations than just Team. When all of the board members resign all at once, it has to tell you the problems with Quixtar go far deeper than just the fight between Quixtar/Alticor and Team.

  12. David Huckstep Says:

I want to apologize to everyone at Alticor/Quixtar/Amway, TEAM, Legacy, and 5K business I referred to in the above Aug. 10th comments, and to anyone else I may have offended in either of my comments (posted 7/29 and 8/10). I cannot see Alticor’s reasons for the actions being considered or taken either for a name change or termination of anyone’s business opportunities. I am not there; I do not have the WHOLE information; and I sincerely apologize for entering any “knee-jerk, reactionary” derrogatory or desparaging rhetoric toward Alticor/Quixtar/Amway. I hope the best for you and your company(s).

    Sincerely,
    David Huckstep
    TEAM IBO

  13. Kevin Says:

    Amen Rich

  14. Bruce Says:

When did you approach our representatives to make this change? For years I’ve told people that I believe in this business because co-founders Rich and Jay gave Distributors/IBOs a say in the way we are managed when they formed the business in 1959. Guess the VanAndle/DeVos kids don’t stand behind the pledges made by their fathers. It looks like Dick DeVos and Jay VanAndle will only listen to the board if it agrees with them. Maybe I’m not in the right business any more. Quixtar Management better think twice before it’s too late. I’ve told my friends and family that Amway doesn’t exist any more in North America now you’re going to make me look like I’m a liar.

  15. Matt Says:

    What happened to FREE Enterprise?
    Seems like bondage to me.
    Quixtar to Amway?????????????

  16. Bill Says:

The decision Alicor is making in changing back to Amway is all about business and the bottom line for them, not the IBO’s. If that isn’t the case, they would be on a campaign to talk with IBO’s and get their opinion. That’s an answer they don’t want to hear. The business they run today is so different then the days of Rich and Jay. Rich and Jay knew the heartbeat of the business and those who worked with them knew them as well and made it a point to carry that throughout the business. If not, they would be let go. Today, they hire people to run this company that have NO idea what we are about and how we feel. All they know and care about is their bottom line. Robots would be a good description. One way to keep checks and balances is to have an IBO, such as Jody Victor Greg Duncan etc., to sit on their board and have equal say, rights and votes on the direction of OUR company. A good example of this is the IBOAI board not knowing of the name switch. They had to find out from an outside source. This is a pivot point for the corporation. Will they allow us to have a say in how we wish things to go. Rich has always said this is your business. or, do they follow corporate greed. If the latter happens, watch the cards start to fall and the corporation desolve North America and concentrate on the business abroad. Just one man’s opinion.

  17. blogger Says:

The name change shouldnt change your business. I have TWO new IBO sign up and was aware of the name change from Quixtar to AMWAY. The only thing that can change your business is your DREAMs and Focus! If your dream and focus changes, your business will surely change. Dont make the name change an excuse for your personal growth, make it a reason for your personal growth!

  18. freedom Says:

I went to the town hall meeting that they had to pay $300 for pin emeralds and above to show up. What a joke, Devos and Van Andel are total wimps having to have their babysitter Jim on stage with them. They had 3 thrones set on stage, about 8 body guards(who were they afraid of, us!!!!) oh, I know you koolaid drinkers will say they are billionaire kids (bull, they are afraid of all of us who put our lives building this business) I hope they grow up, and do the right thing, set people free or change their business to support their IBO’s.
Hey Doug how about walking those 70 so steps into Steve office and be a MAN!

  19. Jeff Says:

This is all amazing to me, I for one am very, very happy with the change. Those of you who stated or believed we were not in business with Amway did not do your due dilligence (ever heard of Google, c’mon, this should not have been a surprise) and also quite frankly you dont have very good leadership (OR YOU DONT LISTEN).

We have always been Amway, whether you chose to call it Quixtar, Alticor or any other way you thought you were pulling one over on innocent people. I am glad the liars are getting called out, and I am proud of the leadership of my upline as we ALWAYS encourage prospects and new IBO’s to do their due dilligence. I nor my upline have EVER skirted the fact that we ARE Amway, Quixtar is a susidiary of the parent company of AMWAY and that is the source of great pride.

I think this will force men to be men, and ship the mice out the back door.

IBO… Independent Business Owner, you own your busines, BUT it is a big business and there must be parameters for you and I to operate within.

If you dont like it, create your own products out of your basement or garage, become a 6 billion dollar world wide company and offer an opportunity to all (even the idiots) and do it with no parameters and see how long it takes for the whiners and the lazy with an entitlement attitude to take you and your business apart! You certainly will not last 50 years!

No one is holding any of you hostage… you should feel blessed to be associated with a muti-billion dollar company with impeccable reputation for fine products.

THE ONLY NEGATIVE THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN REGARDING AMWAY / QUIXTAR IS LAZY, LYING, DECEPTIVE I.B.O.’S. The products are great, and the system is pure, you just need to be honest, passionate and willing to help others.

IF YOU WANT A FREE RIDE, GO STOW AWAY ON A BUS (OUT OF TOWN). If you want to work, and help others, welcome home!!

  20. Brad Says:

#19. How long have you been in and what level have you achieved.

  21. NR Says:

The name change is no big deal. Not being able to sell the products to anyone because of their outrageous pricing in almost every area (at IBO or retail pricing) is a problem. Let’s deal with some of the real business issues regading where help is needed. We all know this business, so training is nice but not a must. And it doesn’t matter how big the parent or other company is if you can’t move volume other than what you and other IBOs purchase/consume/through away to hit levels.

Let’s see some progress on pricing instead of promises about change that have been promised before and not delivered!

  22. Jo man Says:

Ditto Jeff #19 - 24 years and worried as our group was merging with Orin…oopss

The folks at Amway aren’t gettin’ out of this mess any time soon as they let the kingpins get away with so much for so long, I think the damage may be irreversable…jo

  23. John Says:

I am shocked and hurt that you people at the corporation would make such a foolish decision and alienate so many of us who have dedicated so much of our lives to you. I have been and IBO for 14 years.. 7 with Amway, 7 with Quixtar.
I love this business.. or loved this business. I am ashamed that you would stab a knife right through the heart of the people who are the magic of this business. Orrin Woodward and Team vision is what is right with our business. There is a reason that they were the #1 growing team. Maybe you should take some notes to why that is. They have always conducted themselves with a win-win or no deal philosophy and if you dont want the people who have been in my living room helping me win and get my dreams, then you dont want myself or the hundreds in our team. When was the last time that you thought of someone else other than you?

Im sorry that I have given so much of my dedication, energy and love to you guys. But now you have become the new fuel in our fireplace. I hope that you come to your sences someday before you hurt another one of your best allys.

    Regards,

    A happy TEAM member. Forever.

  24. ken shinn Says:

    Oh well –4000 in Amway in 1993… 1500 3 times…
I had a new group ready and poised in 9/01/99 to make the jump to quixtar
one leg was five lawyers–but who could not get on the site -many quit before they got in-I did not ever have enough depth–I was in BWW –but my upline Emearld had not done anything and I could tell by the lack of diamonds and with several of Britt diamonds having family problems their organization had flatlined–I liked amway and Amway products but it was a challenge- I quit building it in 2002 and got involved in little league and coached football-I finally quit renewing in 2006 and was going to get back with someone in Britt and build Quixtar–I prayed and lo and behold a coworker was drinking an XS at the 4000 level two days before school was out and had not done much building-but was getting back at it. In the 90’s it took my wife and I getting seven legs at a function 6 hours away to go 4000,never enough depth. I went to a meeting in July and checked out this Brady and Woodward bunch thoroughly-These people have integrity that you can hang your hat upon. The lawyers reprresenting Quixtar are just that… Lawyers..integrity is not in their vocabulary. -I will put thousnands of dollars of the Britt material on sale on EBAY shortly–Thank You Bill Britt for helping me change my life and make me a better person and father–The Team was poised to help me change my financial future. The holes in Quixtar are not too many but as Rich Devos taught me in Compassionate Capitalism -I must have a product that competes in the marketplace and many cannot get over the prices of basic commodities. I am sorry that Amway does not have a good name in the field-People have never understood but they do not want to get back into Amway on the Web!
I know the lines of leaders on the Iboaia board and even if they are not saying it– Britt, worldwide dreambuilders–and at least 14 of those 20 board members do not want to go back to the Amway namechange and all agree that the prices are non-competitve.
What my upline on the Team told me was that at my first home meeting to have the three that know each other who are on each others lists to get in under each other in order to not compete for the same friend and it will help them learn about duplication. It solidifies the new person while they are learning. I am disappointed in the lawyers who took over for the conservative patriot co-founders.

  25. Shreveporter Says:

I’ve been a Quixtar IBO since 2003, was never in Amway although Mom bought Amway products now and then. Initially, I was impressed with the remodelling of Amway into a more progressive company, and agreed it merited a new name - Quixtar. I was glad for the online accounting, the elimination of the middleman in the money stream and the garages full of inventory. New times required new methods. Today, as we see advertising trying to morph over to the Internet, as the web has given voices to the unheard masses, we, too need to adapt our business models. Information, in this day and age, is readily available and must be delivered quickly and factually, or you will be found out in short order. Unfortunately, attention spans have been dramatically shortened by this same information overload. A one hour “plan” in 1999 now needs to be around 15 minutes, tops. How can one “cut to the chase” if the chase now leads back in a circle to Amway? I see the corporation sacrificing the US operation (Quixtar) to appease the worldwide model (Amway) and facilitate the growth of just one name. I can understand that from a corporate perspective, but I think it’s bad business to crush the folks that built the company - the US contingency. If you need one unifying name, pick Alticor, Access Business Group, or have some study group pick a brand new one and change the entire world in one stroke. “Amway”, as a brand name, is not what folks respect from years in the past - its what Amway did. Quixtar, as a name, did little to lure people into this business. It was merely the name of the “toll booth” on the Internet, the portal with which average folks could locate and buy millions of products from one convenient location. TEAM has done nothing but reconfigure the distribution of the people you put in your organization - the numbers still remain the same in terms of points, levels in the payout, and the bonus scale. Makes no sense to me that if I put in 75 people horizontally the powers that be in Michigan will smile on me, but if I put in 75 in 3 vertical groups of 25 then I deserve to be kicked out of the organization and labelled a bad seed. Shame them for hiding the Quixtar name yet it’s okay for Bill Britt to refer to Amway as “the old business”? We hide the name as long as possible to keep a prospect from digging up dirt on the Internet on Quixtar OR Amway until such a time as they fully grasp the true value of the opportunity. In conclusion, let me say as an IBO that I am dissapointed such a monumental change as the renaming of Quixtar was not put to a vote of the IBO membership. After all, if we are to believe Michigan, Quixtar is OUR business.

    JK

  26. Stephen Caraway Says:

I’m disappointed in this system. So many promises made, very few kept. You would have to work day and night, beg and steal to make any real money at this. I only did it because I liked the products. I just cancelled my DITTO program. Hopefully, others will follow.

    Good luck everyone!

  27. CAV Says:

I do not know what you saw when you attended a Team presentation but I saw disparaging remarks about Amway and the Amway business model. On Orrin Woodward’s site I also saw an attorney’s opinion that they were not in multilevel marketing and they were not bound by the rules governing MLM’s. They took credit for putting together the infrastructure that delivers the product and setting up the distribution system. They even claimed to have developed the XS Blackcherry Cola flavor. My feeling was that I could in no way be associated with them.

I am sorry for all the people who are getting hurt by this action but I think it could have been all avoided if the Woodward/Brady Team had simply agreed to follow the same rules that govern all IBO’s. I fully support Quictar’s actions.

  28. vince jones Says:

Here is my 2 cents. I started in amway. It was challenging having to educate people about the company before i could talk to them about the business plan. Then quixtar.Great! New name ,New opportunity, no explaining just show the plan. Name change? Don’t make it hard again.Amway is and was a great company and opportunity. The general public has a different view.It took years to make amway what it is. Please give quixtar an equal chance. Please do not mess with MY Quixtar business.

  29. Gloria Vear Says:

I have been in the busines for over twenty years. I believe if you truly want to help people it doesn’t make a whole lot of difference what we call it as long as we identify it is Amway.., The change in the business has blessed many BUT when a person lies and says “this is not Amway” you have lost your integrity.
TOO MUCH MONEY was spent on rallies and “tools”. It is sad when you are encouraged to not worry about how many products you sell. Just sell the “tools” and get to the Rallies the upline said.
We were taught to be devious about how much money we were making, Sure we received a big check but by the time we paid for the tapes and books and rallies, and sent the bonus down line, there wasn’t much left. In comparison today, I am rebuilding our network with previous distributors that loved the laundry soap and house keeping supplies. I can now authorize them to be wholesale buyers, without having to be IBOs They can call in their own orders and we get all the PV. What a wonderful concept. I do not have to keep an inventory, keep records or ship the products. The sky is the limit.
I don’t have to miss my grandsons football games, or grandaughters plays or stay home to do PV checks, Within a couple of years I will be making more than we ever made as Profit Sharing Founders Directs.and we haven’t driven a mile. Thanks to Nutrilite and Artistry people can’t believe I am 76.
As Zig Sigler said, if you help enough people get what they want, you will get whatever you want.
If you have been telling every one this is not Amway and now that we are going back to “Amway” you think they will think you are a liar, well I guess you always were one.
IBO’s Today is the best!.Gloria Vear

  30. Just an IBO Says:

“For it is your business, when the wall next door catches fire.”

  31. Sue Says:

    Gloria,
When I was shown the plan 2 yrs ago I called the Company and they told me that Quixtar was a different company and that Amway was not in the US. Who is lying????????

  32. IBO Says:

Sue- Quixtar is a separate company from Amway. However, it is governed by the same company as Amway and uses the same products. Therefore, there are not literally and legally the same, yet for all practical purposes they are the same. Nothing much changed when we all switched from Amway to Quixtar except the name.

  33. Chris Says:

32—actually you are mistaken as far as nothing much changed. Amway and Quixtar are 2 complete different companies. Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza hut are owned by the same company “Yum! Brands” we would have to agree that they are completly seperate. The name change is not to be mistaken of just a name change. Companies Change their name’s all the time but they are the same company as they were before, For example in the 80’s walmart put in super stores and called the hypermarts, the store was named that as a catch phrase owned by Walmart in the late 90’s they changed the name to Super walmart, nothing changed but the name. Prior to 1999 we were a buisness owned by AMWAY then they created a new company called Alticor and made that the parent company and then created a sister company called Quixtar, so going back to Amway means we are changing compaines. Not just the name.

  34. mex Says:

New IBO Amway/Quixtar Orientation & First 120 day requirements
Starting September 1, 2007 all new IBOs will be required to review an Amway/Quixtar Orientation which currently explains to new IBOs the history of Amway, the focus on product sales and the philosophy of building the business around finding others who want to sell products with you. Of course this philosophy takes us right back to the original product pricing problem. In addition, new IBOs are required to sell 50 PV of products to documented customers three of their first four months in the business in order to receive various benefits. Also, it appears that Platinums will need a specific percentage of their new IBOs (probably 10%) to achieve this in order to receive their year-end bonuses. This unfortunately will cause the Platinums to have to become more of sales team managers, likely to put excessive pressure on new IBOs’ sales performance. This will dramatically change the chemistry of the field from how it operates today.

In coming months all new IBOs will have a specifically monitored first 90-120 days upon their registration. The details are being finalized but if it is to follow suit with other countries, we can expect several things including a limitation of what business support materials a new IBO can purchase. These limitations could include what information a new IBO can review, whether they are corporate or field produced, as well as the amount one could spend on them. Given that most new IBOs who quit in their first year do so within the first 90-120 days of their registration, this is by far our most coveted time with our new people. To have the company involved and making decisions defining the new IBOs experience during this period is alarming to say the least. All of the business effort that leads up to the registration of a new IBO, and therefore the growth of the entire team, can be totally lost if the company exercises something with an adverse effect during this period. This program is flirting with disaster at the point of all business growth. From the Company’s viewpoint, having control over this period decreases their legal risk as they can document their early emphasis on sales. It also bodes well for net incomes of the new IBO if they choose to limit the new IBO’s expenses; good for the Company’s reputation. However, without products that are retailable, this process will only magnify failure to a new IBO.

  35. Anthony Says:

Listen up folks. I am a former Amway distributor who had over 800 people in his US business, and 40,000 in my China team. After 18 years I walked away from the idiocy that was Britt World Wide. I still have thousands of tapes sitting in boxes in my basement. When the company went to Quixtar, I lost 60 % of my team in US. The rest disappeared over time. If I could show you a way to build a real business with true residual income, without the rediculous meeting schedule, outlandish pricing of tools (in fact, no private tools are sold), and none of the high markup products, would that be worth 45 minutes of your time? No risk, no MLM, a simple online presentation. Like it or not, Amway is never returning to its “glory days”. The methods used to build business have been perverted by the powers that be in the uplines of all of your organizations. I truly loved my upline, but they turned there back on me when I needed them most. Glad I’m out of it.
