Now, it’s the A-rena

Yes, it is true, the old O-rena, the former TD Waterhouse Centre, the “Arena in Orlando” will become Amway Arena.

No, our licensing agreement will not require Stuff the Magic Mascot to toss samples of SA8 out to fans. Nor will we replace official game programs with reprints of Consumer Reports.

Sure, we know the Magic ownership well; we’re big fans. But what we really like is the idea of our logo going out on worldwide NBA broadcasts, inspiring a little pride in our IBOs all over the world.

No, there will not be a Beth Dornan “bobblehead” fan appreciation night, at least not anytime soon.

And no, you can’t call it “The Soapbox”. Oh, heck, go ahead. It’ll keep the Keep’n Score crew talkin’…

I think its great that we have an arena with the Amway name on it. But why in the U.S. where we operate as Quixtar? it should be Quixtar Arena! As Amway Arena U.S. Quixtar IBO’s won’t derive any benefit — unless (I hope) we will be changing our name back to Amway — or at least be given the option to operate under the Amway name here in the U.S. Can someone at the home office please elaborate on the strategy behind using the Amway name in the U.S.????

    Thanks,
    Ed

  2. Will Says:

Why call it Amway Arena, Amway does not even go buisness in North America anymore. Would it not make since to Name it Quixtar Arena. It is still owned by Alticor family and Quixtar is avalible in North America. They could have used it to cap of there major marketing drive with the commercials and artilces they ran for the past three months. Is there anything that Alticor is doing to get name reconition like that for Quixtar.

  3. DAS Says:

Since the North American business model is Quixtar, not Amway, and given that they just spent loads of money on excellent ads highlighting Quixtar and Alticor in North America, why on earth did they name the arena the Amway Arena? It makes no sense. They are marketing a company/brand name that doesn’t even exist in North America anymore and has a stigma in North America that they just cant shake. They should have name it Alticor Arena, just like the new Alticor Hotel, or even better the XS Energy Center! I know Alticor doesn’t own XS but it would be a darn cool name!

  4. Alticor Media Blog Administrator Says:

True, Amway and Quixtar are both owned by Alticor, and yes, Quixtar is our brand in the United States. Sooooo…why not “Quixtar” Arena? Consider this, from a 2006 NBA press release:

“NBA programming is distributed globally to 215 countries and territories in 43 languages, reaching a global audience of more than 750 million television households.”

More people know us around the world as Amway. Plenty of those people watch basketball. To call it anything else other than Amway Arena would not take advantage of the global marketing juggernaut that is the NBA. That, and our U.S. customers know us as Quixtar, so we already have home court advantage.

  5. NG Says:

Or, could it be you all had aready decided to change the company name back to AMWAY even back in 2006???? hmmmmm

Also, why does it say A-rena in the title? Are you ashamed of Amway like the rest of us?

  6. is it true? Says:

Administrator: Have you guys read the negative on the net about Amway? What should we do or think about it?

  7. jthompson Says:

Quixtar has the same amount of crap on internet.. and it links to Amway negative.

Its pretty hard to get worse…

Despite the net - there are many ibos succeeding now. ex: Greg Francis and Jacki Francis - they went diamond in the last 5 years… Quixtar business. And they tell people they are in business with Quixtar…. don’t hide anything like TEAM supposedly does.

IBOs that become mentally tough will be fine.
