That small sound, faintly heard above the crashing gongs of those preposterous ads?

It’s the voice of reason.

The National Association of Manufacturers — which, one can reasonably assume, knows a thing or two about manufacturing — and its president, former Michigan Governor John Engler, bring a little common sense to the debate with this column in today’s Detroit News.

Says Engler: “Punishing a Michigan manufacturing success story for political purposes is just no way to do business.”

Thank you, sir. We couldn’t agree more.
