We watched with dismay a few months ago as the campaign process turned the topic of our China business operations into a political punching bag. It became a distraction, and an irritating one, in part because so many people got so many facts wrong so quickly. So let us get on the record right off the bat here in regard to a recent political posting about our India business, in hopes of preventing the cycle of error from repeating itself: We are involved in the manufacture of products in India, for sale inside the India market. We DO NOT own manufacturing facilities, but instead work through third-party manufacturers. In-country manufacturing -- and working through third-party manufacturers -- are legal requirements for us to do business in India. That's a reality of the modern commercial world. We DO NOT sell any of the products that are made for us in India anywhere else. They are produced for the Indian market, a market of over one billion people and growing. And although India is not a large market for us (yet), it does create jobs here in the US that are devoted to helping supply and operate the Amway India business. And shouldn't American companies seek to grow by selling their products around the world? Questions? Call us. But in the meantime, as always -- we have a business to run.Filed by: Corporate Communications
